FAMILY CENTERED EARLY INTERVENTION PROGRAM
A home visiting program for families who have specific concerns or questions related to their preschool child. This program is funded by the Department of Health and Community Services, and covers Riverview, Salisbury, Petitcodiac, Elgin, Hillsborough to Alma, Sackville, Dorchester, Port Elgin, Bayfield and surrounding areas.
GOALS
- To help families in their role as parents.
- To improve the child's ability to participate in the home, community, and educational settings.
- To assist the family in becoming advocate for their child.
POSSIBLE AREAS OF CONCERN
- Child development: motor skills, self-help skills, cognitive skills, speech and language skills.
- Social skills and emotional issues such as interaction with other children and/or adults.
- School readiness, educational activities.
- Discipline and behaviours, such as temper tantrums, hyperactivity, sibling rivalry.
- Daily routines, such as mealtime, toileting, dressing, feeding and bedtime.
- Finding support from someone in a similar situation. Community services such as finding a Daycare, Preschool, Parent and Tot groups, Story Time...
- Referrals to other needed services.
HOW TO ASK FOR SERVICES
A referral can be made by the parent or by anyone with the consent of the parent(s) or guardian(s).
All referrals should be made to your local Public Health Office who will decide if you are eligible.
